Today, you completed chapter 1 questions with a group and the entire class. You were to have copied the vocabulary words for chapter 2 and matched them to the definitions. Your assignment tonight is to read chapter 2. We will be completing the questions in class tomorrow probably like we did today.

Well we have finally started the first full 5 day week since Christmas. Today, we started reading The Boy on the Wooden Box (TBOTWB). You are to have read chapter 1 by the time you come to class tomorrow. We will do the questions in class tomorrow. You will also receive the vocabulary for chapter 2 tomorrow. There will be a vocab over the vocabulary for chapters 1 & 2 on Thursday, 1/25.
I hope you are enjoying your time off; however, it is causing issues with what we need to get done to start reading The Boy on the Wooden Box. I have attached a link for you to start working on the vocabulary for chapters 1 & 2. I look forward to seeing you on Friday.

In class today, you viewed the video of the Michael Gruenbaum interview based on the book Somewhere There is Still a Sun. You were given a Venn diagram and asked to use that to compare and contrast Gruenbaum's life in Terezin to Raja's life in Terezin. Your Venn diagram is due tomorrow.

Today, we finished or nearly finished the video of the play I Never Saw Another Butterfly . You should have taken notes that fit into one of the following 6 categories: Day-to-day life, family/friends, who survived, living conditions, types of resistance, and if Raja survived and how. Tuesday we will watch the interview of Michael Gruenbaum, so you can complete the Compare/Contrast assignment. If you missed some of the butterfly video or you want to watch it again to make sure you got everything, I have attached a link to the video up above.
Make sure you have your Boy on the Wooden Box book. We will start reading next week.

Today, we started watching the video of the reader's theater "I Never Saw Another Butterfly". We will finish the video tomorrow and watch the interview of Michael Gruenbaum on Monday. Your final assignment will be a compare/contrast of Mr. Gruenbaum and Raja's life in Terezen concentration camp.
Reminder: If you haven't purchased your copy of The Boy on the Wooden Box , you need to do so soon. We will begin reading next week. Remember you can also use an electronic copy of the book if you prefer.
Today we had a speaker from the KSU Holocaust Museum present an introduction to our Holocaust unit. Don't forget that there will be a Vocab Quick Check tomorrow over the Holocaust vocabulary. Can't find your's it is attached at the top of this post.
Today, you worked with your table group and went from station to station discussing and writing your feelings and opinions about statements and pictures related to the Holocaust. You also received a sheet for your parents to sign to make them aware that we will be watching videos concerning the Holocaust. Please return your slip by Monday, 1/8. If you lost your slip, I am attaching the file for you to print. Also, on Monday we will have guest speakers from KSU. They will be delivering an introduction to the Holocuast.
Don't forget you need your Boy on the Wooden Box by Monday.

Welcome back. In class today, you completed a Holocaust Vocabulary Scavenger Hunt. You had the words, and I posted the definitions. You had to find the correct definitions. We started going over the correct definitions in class, but did not finish in any class. I have attached the scavenger hunt key, so you can fill in and/or check any words we did not get to in class. There will be a quick vocabulary check tomorrow for warm-up.
