Today, you finished the character analysis for the short story "Eleven". You also received the study guide for the short story final. The study guide is due on Monday, 12/4 and the final is on Thursday, 12/14. Remember you only have to complete the 1 - 25 on the front side of the study guide. The 10 on the back are to let you know what you will be doing on the test. If you left or lost your study guide, I am attaching the file. Have a good evening.

Today we finished the notes on Point of View, and we reviewed some of our past notes. Tomorrow for warm-up you will have an almost there quiz over this material. I am attaching the PPT if you missed anything in class; however, if you were paying attention in class you should be able to pass the quiz. No HW unless you want to look over your notes. Welcome back! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break.
Today, you took Touchstone Mini # 2. This is not for a grade, but to see where you are with material. The third Touchstone will be for a grade as we discussed in class today. Some classes were able to start the notes on Point of View and Characters today, but because not everyone was able to get to that point I am waiting until tomorrow to post the notes for those of you who may not have gotten everything down. I do want to reiterate the exam schedule for the end of the quarter: December 14 - Short Story Final Exam (study session 8:30 that morning in my room) December 15 - mid-year Reading Inventory December 18 - 3rd Mini-Touchstone for a grade Remember if you are not going to be here for any of the exams and you know in advance, please make arrangements with me to take the test in advance because there isn't time for retakes or make-ups due to when grades are due this quarter. NO HW tonight plot_setting__conflict.pdf
I was told that the links that I have been putting at the bottom of the blog for notes and assignments are hard to see, so I am going to try adding them at the top. Please let me know in class which way you prefer for me to load the links. Today, we were able to finish the Plot, Setting and Conflict notes in all classes. Everyone was able to complete the plot line for "The Three Little Pigs". However, only a few classes were able finish reading the short story "The School Play" by Gary Soto. So, tomorrow we will finish that and the plot line that goes with it. Don't forget to bring a silent reading book tomorrow. I'm still marking Eagle cards for being unprepared if you don't have one. Going to the Learning Commons during HR is a good time to get a book if you need a new one, or you can come to my room and check one out. Have a good evening. We are finished with poetry, but not finished with all of the elements of literature that we learned in that unit. Today, we started the short story part of the 2nd quarter unit. We reviewed plot, setting and conflict. If you missed some of the notes, I am attaching a pdf of the notes to this post. NO HW tonight. Have a good evening. Remember to bring a silent reading book to class tomorrow.

Reminder: Last Minute Review Session Tuesday, 11/14 Have a good weekend. Today we finished the Poetry Unit with Hyperbole and Idiom. Tomorrow we will do one more poetry analysis on a poem from our literature book. Don't forget that your study guide is due tomorrow and you are to bring a silent reading book to class. My bookshelf will be closed, so you may not use a book from my shelf unless you come and get the book during home room.
If you missed some of the notes from hyperbole and idiom, I am attaching the ppt. Also, if you need anything for the study guide look at last Friday, 11/3 for all of the other ppt. I will be available in the morning if you need help with anything. 1._hyperbole_and_idioms.pptx |
