It is hard to believe that October is almost gone. This school year is flying like a jet plane. (what kind of figurative language?) Write your answer on a piece of paper and give it to me in class. If you were paying attention in class today, you should know the answer.
Tomorrow, you need to bring a silent reading book for our warm-up. I know it will be hard, but you will need to bring your best concentration to class, so you can finish the assignment in class and not have HW. BRING A SILENT READING BOOK TO CLASS TOMORROW!!!

COLOR BATTLE DAY!! IT LOOKED LIKE YOU ALL HAD FUN THROWING ALL THE DIFFERENT COLORS ON EACH OTHER. IT WAS A GREAT FUND RAISER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
In class today, you took the Touchstone 1 Mini pre-test, worked and on your image worksheet and read if you finished all the above. The image worksheet is due on Monday, 10/30 when you walk into class. I am attaching the worksheet in case you left yours at school. 3._imagery_analysis.pdf 2._imagery_examples.pdf Imagery is every where, even in the words of a poem. Today, you started working on an imagery sheet. You will continue working on this sheet tomorrow after you finish the the Touchstone Mini 1 for quarter 2. Also, remember you need to bring a pleasure reading book in for class tomorrow as well. NO HW and have a good evening.
Today you were given a chance to work on the rough draft of your Onomatopoeia comic strip in class and ask questions if you didn't understand. The final comic strip is due tomorrow at the beginning of class. If you left your rubric or comic strip paper at school, I am attaching those files, so you can print them at home. Remember, doing the minimum only means that you have met the requirement. It does not mean that you have gone above and beyond to get an "A". Don't forget to make you Onomatopoeias standout so I can see them when I grade your comic strip. Have fun with this and use your imagination.
onomatopoeia_comic_strip_check_list_rubric.docx 2._onomatopoeia_comic_strip.pdf Pow!! Bang!! You just got Onomatopoeia. After everyone presented their advertisement and slogan we began a quick study of Onomatopoeia. In class tomorrow, you will be working on your Onomatopoeia comic strip. The final copy of this is due at the beginning of class on Wednesday, 10/25. I am attaching the rubric, but not the sheet for the final of the comic strip. You may work on your rough draft at home tonight if you like.
onomatopoeia_comic_strip_check_list_rubric.docx Today we continued our work with alliteration. You read some tongue twisters and wrote an alliteration in class. Also, you received the instructions and rubric for the advertising alliteration assignment. This assignment is due on Monday, 10/23. I am attaching the instructions and the rubric.
alliteration_advertisement_rubric.docx ol_alliteration_advertising_assignment.docx Today, we started class with a very quick overview of all of the figurative language that we will be visiting during this poetry unit. The reason for this was to help you see the connection between what you learn in ELA and what you learn in Reading. The two classes go together. You took notes from the ppt. I am attaching the ppt in case you missed anything.
HW: Find an example of Alliteration in everyday life: a magazine title, a newspaper article title, book title, advertisement. If you can't bring your example to school, take a picture of it and bring the picture to school on your device if that is okay with your parent; otherwise, you need to print the example. You are NOT to make-up the example, that comes later. Reading Grade (10 points) 1._alliteration__.ppt Today, we reviewed the poetry terms line, stanza and rhyme scheme by playing the game telephone. We started looking at topic and them in poetry, but due to the shortened schedule we did not get too far. We will finish this tomorrow.
