We got off to a fast start with our Poetry unit today. Each class compiled a list of poetry characteristics that they observed in the poems posted in the hall yesterday. We learned about rhyme and rhyme scheme, and how to mark it. Be careful tomorrow with "Casey at the Bat". We also learned about lines and stanzas in a poem. Don't forget to use your strategies for reading a poem tomorrow when you complete your poem analysis. I am attaching the power point from today in case you missed anything.

Today, we started our Poetry unit. We looked at possible traits of a poem and identified poems vs. prose. Tomorrow we will grade the pre-test, get a bunch of papers back, and continue talking about the traits of a poem. No HW tonight.
All presentations have been completed. I am working on getting the rubrics totaled and in the grade book. Tomorrow you will be taking a pre-test for our next unit. We will also grade the test. However, don't forget to bring a pleasure reading book for when you are finished.
Today was the first day of presentations, and as always I was impressed with the creativity and thought that went into many of the project. Presentations will continue throughout the rest of the week.
Don't forget, if you are one of the students that I talked to about revisions for the constructed response on the unit final, the reteaching session is Thursday morning. You can print this post to use as your pass. No HW tonight Enjoy! Welcome back! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful fall break. Don't forget that your final Hero project is due tomorrow. Everyone has to bring in their project tomorrow, or it will be considered late. In class today, we completed a touchstone mini. Don't worry about the grade because this was for data not a grade. I am attaching your rubric in case you have lost yours or left it at school.
