We got off to a fast start with our Poetry unit today. Each class compiled a list of poetry characteristics that they observed in the poems posted in the hall yesterday. We learned about rhyme and rhyme scheme, and how to mark it. Be careful tomorrow with "Casey at the Bat". We also learned about lines and stanzas in a poem. Don't forget to use your strategies for reading a poem tomorrow when you complete your poem analysis. I am attaching the power point from today in case you missed anything.
Remember always bring a pleasure reading book to class. 1._poetry_structure.pptx Today, we started our Poetry unit. We looked at possible traits of a poem and identified poems vs. prose. Tomorrow we will grade the pre-test, get a bunch of papers back, and continue talking about the traits of a poem. No HW tonight.
All but one project has been presented. This is a wonderful thing. Tomorrow you will be taking a pre-test for the next unit and grading it. However, don't forget to bring a pleasure reading book for when you are finished.
Today was the first day of presentations, and as always I was impressed with the creativity and thought that went into many of the project. Presentations will continue throughout the rest of the week.
Don't forget, if you are one of the students that I talked to about revisions for the constructed response on the unit final, the reteaching session is tomorrow morning. You can print this post to use as your pass. No HW tonight Enjoy! Welcome back! I hope your fall break was enjoyable and restful. Don't forget that your final unit project is due tomorrow. I am reattaching the rubric in case you lost the one I gave you. In class today, you took the Touchstone Mini. This is not for grading so don't worry about the grade. The rest of the week we will be presenting the projects. Have a good evening.
